Cairo, 05 December 2017

On the occasion of celebrating the 30th anniversary of the European Union (EU) Erasmus+ Programme on education and training, the National Erasmus+ Office – Egypt held on Monday the 4th National Erasmus+ Day under the auspices of Ambassador Ivan Surkoš, Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt.

Erasmus+ is a funding scheme to support activities in the fields of education and training, with the aim of deepening the networking between higher education institutions through offering cooperation opportunities in the form of capacity building and exchanges for students, scholars and staff.

This year's National Erasmus+ Day focused on the European higher education programmes which encompass partnerships between Egyptian and European universities and mobility grants that empower cultural and scientific exchanges of students and scholars both in Egypt and the EU.

During the event, Ambassador Surkoš announced the launch of the fourth call for proposal under Erasmus+ with a budget of EUR 140 million. The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and Egyptian public and private universities, in addition to Erasmus + focal points in universities, experts of higher education reform, students and teaching staff.
